    I am doing IF right now in a contest. In the past I have always just done Low Carb and quite successfully. One 3 month contest I lost 17% of my body weight but that includes a bunch of water I sweat out at the end. The problem is I lost a bunch of strength or as they say, "gains" .

    This time I am actually improving slightly so far in this cut. My hunch is that part of the puzzle is leptin. I am thinking that people who are constantly snacking holding their leptin high so they don't ever feel hungry is causing a "tolerance" or "resistance" by blunting receptors, just like someone always on drugs that need more and more. Now I tried IF once before but I did it wrong, I was horking down as much as I could in my windows with a massive surplus and while I didn't gain weight I didn't lose any either. This time I am getting major gym time 4-5 times per week and running a small deficit according to my calculations. It looks like I am gaining muscle size and dropping about 2-3 pounds per week. I will go back in for my fat percent check in a few days to verify but judging looks and clothes I think it is working well. I am shooting for 7-8 hour windows with one good "fuel" meal after works outs.

    Anyway I will have a lot better idea if this is sustainable within a month or so and I have plenty of weight to drop.
